Job Description:
The Electronics Engineer will support the Project Management Office Tactical Networks (PM TN) and provide essential engineering support for tactical network capabilities within the PM TN acquisition program. The successful candidate will perform engineering processes, collaborate on technology integration, and conduct detailed evaluations of network architectures.
The candidate must be familiar with DoD network and cyber security. The candidate must be familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements and DISA STIGs. The candidate must have hands-on experience with the myriad of cyber security tools employed within DoD architectures, such as: ACAS Security Center, varied Firewall and IDS/IPS technologies and Endpoint Security products. The candidate should have light experience with scripting languages such as Powershell. The candidate will implement and enforce security policies across the organization as well as install, test and evaluate cyber security products. Must have good written and oral communications skills and the ability to produce documentation, briefing materials, and network diagrams in Power Point, Word, Excel and Visio. Must have adept troubleshooting skills. Develop and apply advanced software/systems methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems. Analyze, evaluate and plan method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems. Conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Review literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Review projects progress and evaluate results. Recommend corrections in technical applications and analysis. Specify materials, equipment and supplies required for completion and implementation of technical projects. Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Provide technical consultation to technical staff or other organizations. Have technical experience and training in performing systems integration, complex analytical studies, and technical analysis on diverse tactical and strategic communications systems. Produce relevant technical reports and documentation to inform the Army / DoD Leadership concerning the significant findings, results and recommendations from scheduled technical testing events and laboratory experimentations
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Expertise: Perform electronics engineering processes, procedures, and best practices. Provide engineering support for development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management in support of acquisition programs.
- Network Architecture Support: Provide engineering support focused on the transport and networking architecture for current and future tactical network capabilities.
- Technical Evaluations: Conduct thorough technical evaluations and assessments of network performance and architectures, including support for risk assessments and integration strategies.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with organizations such as Program Executive Office Command Control, Computers, and Network, other Project Managers, Product Managers, Army-wide stakeholders, and coordinate on interoperability considerations.
- Documentation Review: Review and understand acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, operational needs statements, Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), technical specifications) and translate requirements to develop technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient.
- Proposal Evaluation: Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy to ensure requirements are met.
Subject Matter Expertise Required:
- Experience in network engineering and design, including LANs and VLANs.
- Proficiency with routing protocols, multicast, and routing configurations; familiarity with IPv4/IPv6 addressing.
- Experience with network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.
- Familiarity with commercial communications equipment and transport/network architectures.
- Understanding of end-to-end network design and performance, including voice/data transmission and backbone networks.
- Knowledge of RF engineering and tactical communications electronics.
Experience Requirement:
- A Bachelor’s Degree can be substituted with an additional seven (7) years of related experience performing tactical network electronics engineering functions.
Certifications:
- DAWIA Practitioner Level in Engineering and Technical Management.
Mandatory Requirements
- Candidate must be a US Citizen to obtain and maintain an interim and final security clearance
- DoD 8570 certifications for IAT Level III or IAM Level II
