Overview: The purpose of the Business analyst SkillBridge Internship is to build a pipeline of trained and qualified individuals that meets the needs of Reed Enterprise Consulting and the needs of our customers. The training will be a collaborative effort between REC business managers & President, similarly, placed individual contributors, and government peers.

Job Description

Senior Logistics Analyst responsible for utilizing advanced analytical methods to evaluate and optimize logistics operations, identifying areas for improvement within the supply chain, developing data-driven recommendations, managing key performance indicators (KPIs), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient movement of goods, all while often mentoring junior analysts and leading complex logistics projects with minimal supervision; key duties include analyzing transportation costs, inventory levels, delivery times, and warehouse efficiency to identify potential cost savings and process improvements, reporting findings to management, and working with vendors to negotiate contracts and monitor performance. 

Key responsibilities and competencies:

Data analysis and reporting: Deep dive into logistics data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, generating detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders. 

KPI management: Monitor and track key performance indicators like on-time delivery, cost per unit, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction, taking corrective actions when necessary. 

Process improvement: Analyze current logistics processes and identify opportunities for optimization, including streamlining workflows, reducing lead times, and minimizing transportation costs. 

Vendor management: Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and address any service issues. 

Cost analysis: Evaluate transportation costs, warehouse fees, and other logistics expenses to identify potential cost savings opportunities. 

Project leadership: Lead complex logistics projects, including implementation of new systems or process changes, assigning tasks, and managing project timelines. 

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams like sales, operations, and procurement to ensure alignment on logistics strategies and goals. 

Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior logistics analysts, helping them develop their analytical skills and understanding of logistics processes. 

Required skills:
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, BI platforms) 
  • Deep understanding of logistics principles, including transportation modes, warehousing, inventory management, and supply chain optimization 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex data insights to various stakeholders 
  • Problem-solving abilities to identify root causes of logistics issues and develop actionable solutions 
  • Project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor logistics initiatives 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 10+ years of experience in a logistics analyst role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery 
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS) 
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance 
  • SECRET security clearance
